  • LANsurveyor

The first product in its class to automate the discovery, topology mapping, documentation and reporting of critical network systems and components in real time.

    Automatically Diagrams the Network:
LANsurveyor automatically discovers everything on the network, including desktops, servers, printers, hubs, switches and routers. LANsurveyor uses industry-standard identification and discovery methods (ping/ICMP, SNMP, SIP-based VoIP, NetBIOS and more) to scan IP address ranges and find nodes. Once network nodes are discovered, LANsurveyor compiles the information into a cohesive, easy-to-view network map with node icons and colored lines representing network connectivity speed.

    Creates Network Topology Database:
LANsurveyor collects and stores all topology information in a database, providing a trusted source of topology and asset information for enterprise configuration management database (CMDB) strategies. LANsurveyor automatically maintains this data, providing network engineers with a constantly-accurate representation of the network for visibility and compliance requirements.

    Discovers Switch Port Connections:
LANsurveyor enables network engineers to see exactly how devices in the network are connected. LANsurveyor can access managed switches and hubs to accurately diagram port connectivity for all network devices, resulting in a complete map that illustrates all nodes connected directly to a managed switch or hub with the port information displayed adjacent to the node.

    Performs Multi-level Discovery:
LANsurveyor leverages multiple discovery methods to provide an integrated OSI Layer 2 and Layer 3 topology map that can include:

    • IP address
    • MAC address
    • Last logged-in user (requires the optional Responder Clients)
    • DNS name
    • Node name (determined by SNMP or other client protocol)
    • Switch port connection

This multi-level discovery of network infrastructure data provides network engineers with easy access to significant time-saving features, including:

    • Automated representation of topology at 3 levels:
      • Level 1 shows routers and subnets
      • Level 2 adds managed switches and hubs
      • Level 3 includes end nodes (which can be filtered by type or group to further refine layouts)
    • Quick reports for any or all nodes
    • Switch and hub port reports
    • Microsoft® Office Visio® exports

Creates Maps in Microsoft Office Visio:
LANsurveyor creates an exact map of the network in Visio format. After LANsurveyor has produced the initial network map, this diagram can be exported into Visio with two mouse clicks.

Detects and Blocks Unknown Network Nodes:
LANsurveyor's Continuous Scan Intrusion Detection feature monitors the network for changes and unknown systems — and optionally disables their network access. From a single computer, Continuous Scan detects intrusions and changes across the enterprise, working seamlessly on switched networks. When rogue systems are identified, Continuous Scan can disable their network access, or alert network engineers and/or third-party software applications that a change has been detected. Additionally, Continuous Scan helps network engineers document network changes for regulatory compliance.

    Reports Hardware and Software Assets:
LANsurveyor quickly and easily compiles complete documentation of all devices on the network. By automating software and hardware inventory reports, LANsurveyor delivers time and cost savings, ensures licensing compliance and enables network engineers to plan effectively for system upgrades and modifications. Available reports include inventory data about application programs, OS versions, CPU, RAM, disk volume capacity, available free space and other system data.

    Optional LANsurveyor Responder Clients:
The optional LANsurveyor Responder Clients greatly enhance the functionality of LANsurveyor by providing LANsurveyor with direct access to networked computers. This direct access allows LANsurveyor to provide complete hardware and software asset reports, distribute software, and directly manage the client computers, either individually or as a group.
