The Continuous Scan option is an intrusion detection system that uses one or more LANsurveyor maps as the baseline network environment.

When Continuous Scan is active, LANsurveyor scans the appropriate network ranges and looks for nodes that appear on the network.

When a new node is connected, Continuous Scan can authenticate the node and check for vulnerabilities using Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA).

To use Continuous Scan with MBSA, follow these steps:

Step 1 - Download MBSA

Visit http://www.microsoft.com/MBSA to download and install the latest release of MBSA.

Step 2 - Configure LANsurveyor and Continuous Scan

Specify the location of the MBSA executable in the Helpers section of the Options dialog box.




Then select the MBSA Scan option in Continuous Scan's IP Node Responses dialog box.

Step 3 - Start Continuous Scan

Make sure your network map is open then start Continuous Scan.
