Password Protect Neon Responders |
Previous Top Next |
SolarWinds recommends you password protect your LANsurveyor Responders in order to provide authenticated access to LANsurveyor's information and management features. By default, there is no password configured for a manually installed Responder client. (Responders deployed via a directory service are password protected during the installation process.)
The Manage Wizard makes it easy to remotely configure the Neon Responder password.
Step 1 of 6: Draw a Map
Use the map you created in Draw Your Network Map or create a new map that includes all your Neon Responders. Make sure you select the Neon Responder option in the TCP/IP services section of the Create New Network Map dialog box.

Step 2 of 6: Use the Manage Wizard
Click the Manage icon on the LANsurveyor toolbar to display the Manage Wizard. Select the Change Neon Responder Passwords option and click Next.

Or, you could simply Select Change Password from the Manage menu.
Step 3 of 6: Select the Nodes
Any computers already selected on the map will be checked. To select all Responders, click on the check box next to "Neon Responder Nodes" and click Next.
Step 4 of 6: Enter Your New Password
Enter and confirm your password, then click Next.

Step 5 of 6: Schedule the Password Change
Tell LANsurveyor when you want to change the password: now or at a scheduled time. Pick "now", and LANsurveyor will save the password on each of the selected computers immediately. Click Finish to affect the change.
Step 6 of 6: Store New Password with Map
Finally, store your new password with any maps you have created. Select Map Properties from the Tools menu and enter your new password.
