NEON zPRIME™ ENERGIZES EUROPEAN MAINFRAME MARKET
NEON's EMEA resellers respond to rapid rise in zPrime demand throughout regions; extensive testing consistently turns doubters into believers
SUGAR LAND, TX. – September 9, 2009 – NEON Enterprise Software today announced nearly 20 corporations throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East are actively testing zPrimeTM mainframe software to assess its ability to slash mainframe usage costs, with more than 30 additional companies and organizations lined up to begin evaluations.
“We’re seeing a mirror effect to the kind of enthusiastic response to zPrime we’re experiencing in North America,” said NEON’s President of EMEA Operations, Thilo Rockmann. “zPrime has touched a nerve because it addresses a critical need, and that is to bring down the chronically high costs of mainframe computing.”
NEON developed zPrime to provide mainframe users with the option to shift business application workloads running on an IBM System z mainframe’s central processor to IBM specialty processors, which are much cheaper to use. Such shifts to System z Integrated Information Processors (zIIPs) and Application Assist Processors (zAAPs) can result in cost reductions of 20 percent or more, saving many users millions of dollars (U.S.) in IT costs annually.
To address burgeoning demand for zPrime, NEON has tripled its channel partners since the introduction of zPrime just two months ago—with resellers in 14 countries throughout EMEA selling zPrime. One new partner had 11 prospective customers lined up before formalizing its channel partner relationship with NEON last month. NEON channel partners throughout EMEA consistently report high numbers of inquiries and requests for zPrime since it became available in late June.

In all that time we’ve never seen anything close to the level of interest zPrime is generating among our customers.”
